new song

Lyrics

she walked in the room and showed me a tattoo, of a bird on her arm, she told me about what she'd been through, and all she lost in the storm, and then she talked 'bout a story that she heard of sailors lost at sea, they'd keep their eyes on the horizon, and listen for the birds to sing, waiting for a sign, of a new thing coming, i'm waiting and i'm listening, 'cause i need a new song, a "you're gonna see me through" song, and "get me to that shore" song, oh, i, i need a new song, a "you brought me through that storm" song, oh i, i need a new song, i need a new song, you say your mercy's new in the morning, but will the sun ever rise, 'cause i've been waiting, i keep praying, scared i'm running outta time, waiting for a sign, of a new thing coming, i'm waiting and i'm listening, 'cause i need a new song, a "you're gonna see me through" song, and "get me to that shore" song, oh, i, i need a new song, a "you brought me through that storm" song, oh i, i need a new song, i need a new song, i waited patiently, you turned and heard my cry, from the pit you lifted me, out of the mud and mire, you set my feet on rock, gave me a place to stand, put a new song in my mouth, and took me by the hand, and i am not alone, you've not forsaken me, you're doing something new, and i can hear the birds sing, you wrote me a new song, a "you broke down the door" song, and "picked me off the floor" song, oh, i, now i've got a new song, a "you'll always see me through" song, and "get me to that shore" song, oh, i, i've got a new song, a "he brought me through that storm" song, oh i, i've got a new song.
