My heart, too, is restless
Who is it that I am waiting for?
It’s difficult to explain this connection
Why do I have this yearning for someone?
Who is it who has caused this turmoil in my heart?

Sta khiyaal afsaanah sho

Time tells me, the world around me shows me
That the thought of you has become just a tale
I go about searching the world for you
Flowers keep blossoming and fading away
Socha jis ko naa mila
Jaane kyoon aisa naa hua
Khaahish thi anjaani si
Main jis ke peechhe tha chala
I didn’t find the one who appeared in my thoughts
I don’t know why this didn’t happen
I had an unconscious sort of longing
Which I had set out to fulfill
Hai tujh ko bhi intizaar
Sah che yam ta nah yam
Tu bhi hai kuchh to be-qaraar
Kalah nah sta laarah goram
Kaisi hai yeh aag jis mein
Neemgaṛe keessah da zamoong
Ham jalte hain baar baar
You, too, are waiting for me
My whole being is linked with you
Your heart, too, is restless

Tujhe pyaasa dekhoon nah
Ke barsoon main tere aangan aise koyi barkha jaise
My wish had been just this
That I should never see you thirsty
For I would descend over your courtyard like a raincloud
Da chartah na pah nwar ke waryaze raale
Ḍer khkule pasham de
